The last day of October, 2005 was a special one for several reasons. First, we had a fabulous sunny sailing day with the gennaker up taking Lily to a comfortable 7 to 8 knots speed. The Atlantic seas were even smooth. Second, we left Portugal and technically entered Spain by anchoring on the Spanish side of [...] After having left Lily in Cascais, We did not set sails though until we’d visited Lisbon, We spend a few quiet days reading and swimming in the Guadianna river. First thing in the morning we wake up to a terrific bang, as a friendly, but clumsy Dutchmen buries his bow anchor into Lily’s side. The damage is small and we wave him, wife and two children goodby as they depart for the Canaries. Leaving Sines at sunrise direction Lagos New hair cut Sines castel Sines castel, home of Vasco da Gama. Sunset befor Sines Sailing past Lisbon with the new full batten high tech mainsail. We head for the Algarve as we expect to enjoy a late summer in southern Portugal and Spain. |
