After motoring the whole day from Malta through the Sicily straits, we are rewarded at sunset with the company of a dolphin family. They played their pranks and soon disapeared towards Pantelleria. We loved you malta and Msida marina too! Onwards to Sardinia maybe via Panteleria the tiny italian island 135nautical miles northwest from here.
Maltas old world feel enchanted us.
St John’s cathedral with the magnificent baroque decor and stone inlay floor marking knights tombs deserves its own post.
Valetta, the highly fortified town built in the 16th century by knights who protected the christian faith from the turks, at night and obviously getting new water-sewage-electric installations.

Learning how to use a sextant, and then going for a swim to get net cut out of our propeler, tracking ships passing by, getting some sleep, watching the sun set 3 times, and of course do a bit of sailing, eating, Reading, checking weather forecast, admiring the rising orange moon, and gazing up at [...] Both fan belts of the 24V Alternator snapped off. We are running the last 8 hours to Malta without. Still wind and waves against us 07/09/2007 18:52:11 GMT 35° 53.15′ N 15° 36.14′ E Sometime last night the wind turned against us, which put an end to the first two days of non stop sailing west. Our average speed until then was almost 7 knots for over 300 miles. We started the engine and motored under the stars, taking shifts at the wheel every 3 hours. This morning a [...] Rod is the tuna king:) on our way to malta.
Goodbye Greece! We are off to Malta with good forecast for first 2 days and then winds against us more and more for last 2 days, 470nmiles in total. Our last Greek town was charming with old harbor, Chania.
