Testing out the new toy which is a kite with a video camera on its line. Sacha wants to use it while sailing in regattas! Rod and Laura join in with their kite.

We finish the day with some Dark’nStormy onboard Sachas J24 Trinity.

Sacha and Tim sail over on their J24 and we go out with Lily around New York Harbor with the 1991 America Cup boat called America II as a bonus sailing by.

Sailed passed the Statue of Liberty and Battery Park on Manhattan. A short ferry ride from the marina and we are standing on Wall Street.

Still New Jersey but only 40 nautical miles from New York! Will probably hit bottom here at the fuel dock of Hoffmans marina. Rain rain rain. Rod shows off his sailing hands. Steady 25 to 30 knots gusting to 36 knots, 7 foot waves, 65 degrees.

Why did we leave the Caribbean? Sailing up the New Jersey coast in our foul weather gear which had happily remained in the closet for the past 3 years, at least! Where is the Summer?

It’s freeeeeezing! Sailing hard to the wind and waves with 20knot east winds we sail all day to Atlantic city. The marina is built around a trump gambling hotel with thousands of retirees sitting at slot machines all day. Very depressing.

After 90 miles of motoring we make it to the south Tip of New Jersey

Long slog down the Delaware Bay passed lovely New Jersey…

First foggy morning in a long while. Wonderful quiet anchorage. Shame we are in such a hurry to get north to New York as the Chesapeake Bay deserves more time.

Before heading north under the Bay Bridge we visit the impressive Naval Academy and witness one of its graduates get married with an arch of swords over their newly wedded heads as they left the church.

Crabs at Cantlers Famous restaurant with owner and crew of the Dolce. Lots of work and lots of fun with Dan, Nick and Ariel.

Cousin Elizabeth and Paul visit us on Lily. No winds but sunny day to go for lunch just north of the bridge to Deep Creek. Wonderful to catch up!

Anapolis Maryland. We feel right at home in this boat oriented town!

On our way to Anapolis we sailed the genaker for half the way and then the downpour came, again…

In Maryland anchored off of Salomons Island. Rather boring day of little wind resulting in motoring most of the way. Lots of reading.

Sailed north to Deltaville on West side of the Chesapeake Bay passing a most peculiar beacon. We’re finding this area very charming to rival even Maine! We passed sailboat Dolce whom we met in Beaufort. They left 2 days before us, going thru the intracoastal waterway.
